Autumn would have to be my almost favourite time of the year, second only to Spring. Cool nights, glorious days and with the recent rain everything looks lush. As I type this, the clouds are starting to roll across again so maybe some more rain is on the way.
I'm always busy with my quilting - Hillingdon Quilt Services is 1 year old already! - but every now and then I find time to create some new little doings. I've had so much fun designing this wallhanging which has been inspired by the many beautiful people I've made friends with over the years. The friends who we might only see once every few years but can pick up right where we left off.
Most importantly though, are my three sisters who I love heaps. They're the ones I named my three chooks after and I love being able to talk to and cuddle them every day. They are so aptly named too.....
Bevvy, the princess chook who leads the others. She's very clever, was the first to fly over the fence into the vegie patch and can work things out quickly. She was the last to start laying but lays the biggest eggs (my real sister, Bev, said they'd be well worth the wait) She looks right into my eyes when I talk to her and she seems to know a lot about stuff.
Shelley, the 'boots n all' chook who is always busy digging, the first one to the food bucket and is the most productive giving us an egg almost every day. She likes to have fun running and flapping and loves eating those fat white garden grubs. Shelley and Bevvy hang out together. I think they plot to do things - like dig under the fence.
Then there's Nisey, my favourite chook. She's a little mother hen, takes her time doing most things and never pushes in. I'm not sure how often she lays but we don't mind. It wouldn't matter if she never laid eggs. She comes when she's called and just loves cuddles. I think she's the one who purrs at night on the roost (yes, I sneak down and take a peek after dark)
Anyway, off to finish quilting a pretty mosaic quilt for Kerrie,
happy stitching
